Things That Come Out of your Foot

I coaxed this stunning piece of work out of my foot today. It had moved in on Christmas Day, made itself at home, repainted the walls, installed shelving.

Consulting doctors and offering threats of hospitalization influenced it in no way. I even followed through on my threats to no avail. I began to doubt whether it really existed or whether my foot was merely haunted by some sort of timber phantom. But as I walked, my foot spoke to me, and I was humbled by it.

Then, on the fiftieth day, the wood did appear and there was much pushing and needling, and lo, a splinter was reborn.

All hail the splinter.

That isn’t a splinter, that’s a branch! You could hollow it out and make a canoe for mice! Didn’t the disbelieving doctors find the presence of 6 toes on that foot suspicious?! Off now to be ill…

I only really read it for Canucks coverage, but even still it’s nice that The Vancouver Sun finally redesigned its hideously awful website to look like it was designed this century.
