The Art of Brian Rea

If Brian Rea doesn’t inhabit the same solar system as fellow artist Marcel Dzama, he’s at least in a nearby galaxy. A penchant for beige and brown, and small-eyed, rough-looking characters. I love this style, though I don’t know quite what to call it.

Some other favourites.

I’m quite fond of that style as well. I’d call it Misperspective Line Drawings, but I think there’s perhaps more that’s needed to fully capture its essence. I have some talented friends who also do drawings in this sort of style, so I’ll ask them what they call it.

In Earshot

I only really read it for Canucks coverage, but even still it’s nice that The Vancouver Sun finally redesigned its hideously awful website to look like it was designed this century.
