Voter, c’est la luxe
Today is your day, Canadians. Voting is always useful, but never more so when the results are actually in doubt. Today is one of those times, as an aching, scandal-prone government asks the country if it deserves another term.
I say no, it doesn’t, and I also urge you to put your vote towards the party whose policies you would most like to see in effect.
If you have your voting card, just show up at your polling station today. If you don’t have it, all you need is identification with your name, address and signature on it. And if you don’t even have that, you can still vote if you can find someone else registered in your polling division who can vouch for you. Check Elections Canada if you aren’t sure where to vote.
Nearly four in ten Canadians didn’t bother to vote in the last election, which means the last government was elected with the support of only about one-quarter of the country’s eligible voters.
Finally, if, after reviewing the eligible candidates in your riding, you find that no person or party pleases you, it may interest you to know that it is a serious breach of the Canada Elections Act to eat your ballot.

I just can’t understand not voting if you’re physically able to get to the polling station. It’s so important! I voted today during my lunch break from work; it took all of six minutes to go to the polling station, vote, and get back to my house (granted that’s probably less time than it would take for most people). Fortunately—though I voted before having lunch—I had no desire to eat my ballot!
