¡Hola amigos!

During my weblogging absence over the last two weeks, I managed to evade, if only briefly, the continuing siege of the season. After a seventh consecutive January spent in Montreal, I decided this year that I was finally ready to join les snowbirds — a common species here in Quebec — in their annual migration southwards.

So, for the last 9 days, I’ve been on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, a fair spot if there ever was one to sip cool drinks on sandy white beaches, or to stroll calmly down streets of colourful Spanish colonial architecture.

Of course, I don’t mean to rub margarita salt on the wounds of those who haven’t shared my good fortune to escape these northern climes, so I shall not prattle on endlessly about the weather. Anyway, my return to negative temperatures last night seemed less cruel than I had been expecting.

I did take lots of photographs of the places I visited in Mexico — and not just of the sand — so I intend to share those as soon as the film is developed, and perhaps throw up a travel journal of sorts.
