The Last Place On Earth

Urbanphoto used to be in my bookmarks, but it was only recently — as I was about to remove the long-dead link from the list — that I realized the site hadn’t disappeared at all, but was in fact alive and kicking. (It used to be urbanphoto.org, and hopped over to .net. Who knew!)

After last week’s hoo-ha about my hometown, coincidence would have it that someone else would take a stab at that perennial predicament: What’s Wrong with Vancouver. This time, Kristen Keerma speaks rather elegiacally at Urbanphoto of “the last place on Earth.” Despite her negative (and fairly honest) portrayal of the city’s faults, she seems poetically drawn to it just the same. And here I thought I was the only one.

In Earshot

I only really read it for Canucks coverage, but even still it’s nice that The Vancouver Sun finally redesigned its hideously awful website to look like it was designed this century.
